Biography

I am Nicole Henderiks-Kint.
I was born and raised in 1964 Kloosterzande, The Netherlands. I'm married and I have two childeren.
During high school I already liked drawing and painting. So I chose Art as a main subject.
Later on I followed several courses in drawing,painting and printmaking,The Netherlands.
Now you can find me every day at my studio.

The prints were not strange to me because at my older home prints hung on the wall. Every day I could have a look at the prints  which I found very beautiful.
It was the nature, "simplicity", the fragile and the refinement of the subject that feel attracted to me. This feeling always have been there and they are only getting stronger now that I practise etching in my own.  

I am inspired by nature.
In my works you can find my surrounding, a reality be seen true my eyes.
Nature is often my starting point. The whole world around me is my inspiration, landscapes of the sea and the forrest, shells got from the beach and flowers from the garden.
A still life is another favorite subject.
I use several materials and technics to attain my works.
The materials are pastels, pen and ink but especially graphics.
How a work finally must be is a combination of listening to your hart and experience.
Now I am going into graphics to learn all details about printmaking. I prefer etchings and woodcuts.

Etching is an intaglio printing process in which an etching needle is used to draw into a wax ground applied over a metal plate. The plate is then submerged in a series of acid baths, each biting into the metal surface only where unprotected by the ground. The ground is removed, ink is forced into the etched depressions, the unetched surfaces wiped, and an impression is printed. Too often etching is confused with engraving. Aquatint is a tonal print process in which acid penetrates a porous matrix forming a network of small dots in the plate.

Working with pastels gives me the freedom to work with my hands, my fingers are my brushes. Its a pleasure to work with this material because many colors are used, it is very soft and you can use several skills to come to the final result. It gives a beautiful, picturesque result.

My paintings are in private collections as well as in the Netherlands ,Europe and America
My paintings are for sale. Besides my own work I also work in commissions.
Since last year 2007 I started in giving workshops in drawing and printmaking.
